Homework

Homework is required in our class.  Please make it a point to check in with your child to make sure they are completing their homework. You will be notified through Class Dojo when homework is not returned.

• Nightly homework includes reading for at least 20 minutes per night.  Reading can be independent, you can read to your child, your child may read to you (pretty much any time spent reading and/or listening to reading counts)

• Math homework will be given out 4-5 days per week and is due the following school day

• Math facts should be practiced at home throughout the week, flashcards and other game ideas will be sent home

• Language Arts homework will be given out 2-3 days per week and is also due the following school day

• Spelling words should be practiced at home throughout the week.  Most weeks students will receive a spelling choice board with the due date written on top

• Homework will not be graded.  It is a way to assess student understanding and is used as a tool to help drive my instruction. Once homework is reviewed it will be returned with a mark to show that I’ve reviewed and recorded it.  Homework is required.

• All homework is an extension of current concepts being taught in class.  Please let me know as soon as possible if you child is having difficulty with homework.
