ABOUT MRS. MARQUEZ

Welcome,

My name is Chasity Marquez and I have been teaching since 2008 when I realized that teaching is a calling I just can't resist! I have licenses in and am highly qualified to teach both general and special education, with my Master's degree in special education. I hold a Level III New Mexico teaching license with endorsements in Reading and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL).  I love teaching at John Baker and am blessed to work with an amazing group of teachers.  I also love teaching 4th graders-they're funny, witty, and so enjoyable to be around!

I am married with two amazing children.  We have a teacup Yorkshire Terrier named Jax a chocolate Labrador Retriever named Hunter, and two tortoises named Opti and Rappi. I love simplicity and I enjoy time with my family, papercrafting, running, and reading.

Here's to a great 4th grade year!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Marquez

Teaching Philosophy

In our classroom you will find students engaged in discussions, collaborative activities, and small group instruction whereby students are active participants in their learning. If I have done my job, students will be encouraging and mentoring one another as they explore and demonstrate proficiency of the Common Core State Standards. It is my goal to facilitate the creation of an environment where students feel valued and are willing to take risks that advance their learning.  In our classroom we strive to be a community and to have a positive impact on each other and the school as a whole.

"It is by tiny steps that we ascend the stars."
